Dialogue on India Israel Relations and Dinner Reception on Commemoration of Haifa Battle, Diwali, and Hanukkah
On the occasion of Diwali and Hanukkah, Foundation of India and Indian Diaspora Studies (FIIDS) along with Israeli and Indo American organization, hosting a dialogue on India-Israel Relations and a reception on the commemoration of Haifa battle. We will have a panel discussion on multiple dimensions of current relations between India, Israel, and the USA.

Context: Diwali, Hanukkah and Centennial Commemoration of Haifa War. On 23rd September 1918, Indian soldiers from the Mysore, Hyderabad and Jodhpur Lancers liberated the strategically important city of Haifa, Israel.
The focus of Dialogue: India and people of Israel have relations from ancient times. India and Israel have an extensive economic, military, and strategic relationship. After last year’s visit of India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, both governments have taken a number of steps to maximize the common meeting points, establishing initiatives spanning technology, startups, innovation, agriculture, and space.
Speakers:
Hon. Ms. Ravit Baer: Ms. Ravit is Deputy Consul General of Israel at San Francisco. Ravit is a career diplomat at the Israeli Foreign Service since 2004. She served as the Deputy Head of Mission to the Israeli Embassy in the Ivory Coast (2005-2007) and to Cyprus (2007-2010). Prior to joining the Consulate, Ravit served for five years at the Department for Multilateral European Organization at the Europe Division.
Hon. Mr. Rohit Rathish is Deputy Consul General of India at San Francisco. He earlier served as head of India’s Development Cooperation Wing in our Embassy in Kabul, as well as Deputy Chief of Protocol (2014-16) in the Ministry of External Affairs, among previous postings.
Mr. Raju Reddy is an entrepreneur and angel investor. He founded Sierra Atlantic which sold to Hitachi in 2010. He actively mentors Indo-US startups. He also started Kakatiya Sandbox – a nonprofit that focusses on creating better economic opportunities and positive role models at the grass root levels in India.
Mr. Ash Kalra is an American politician serving in the California State Assembly. He is a Democrat representing the 27th Assembly District.
Mr. Raj Salwan is newly elected Vice Mayor of Fremont.
